We have finally run out of dating show ideas. I don鈥檛 know, maybe we already had, but the new Netflix dating show seems to take things out of this world. Sometimes literally. 鈥淪exy Beasts鈥? is a dating show that is 鈥渁ll about personality.鈥?So a single will go on a few blind dates without knowing what they truly look like. Because those blind dates will be wearing movie-level prosthetics and makeup to make them look like鈥?a href=”https://www.thedad.com/category/animals/”>animals.

Are we really doing this? OK, I guess we are really doing this.

And we鈥檙e not just doing it once. Netflix has already ordered two seasons of the show. Each episode will have a person going on three dates with different 鈥渟exy beasts鈥?in their animal makeup, and after choosing one, will actually get to see their real face. There will be six episodes airing starting July 21, with another batch coming in the fall.

It looks insane. It looks like an SNL parody. But it is really happening, and of course, people will watch it like crazy. You can鈥檛 NOT watch something like this, which says just as much about us as it does the people partaking in this show.

  鈥?Netflix UK & Ireland (@NetflixUK) June 23, 2021

Like any Netflix reality show, it鈥檚 not even that original, as, much like The Circle (another great, unconventional, bingeable reality TV offering from Netflix), it鈥檚 a show/format that has already found great success in the UK. So, Netflix will introduce an American version.

Comedian Rob Delaney (very funny on Twitter! Haven鈥檛 seen his Amazon show!) will narrate the series.

  The Two Boss Babies

  3.15

  Credit: Dreamworks Animation

Tom McGrath, director of the Boss Baby movies, is a very friendly, soft-spoken guy who likes cheap horror movies and told me his dream was to “bring families together” now that the pandemic is over. And I lied straight to his face.

See, while The Dad is usually a pretty blue-collar media brand, we have a celebrity interview series, Gittin’ Grilled With Jordan Stratton, which landed us a ticket to the red carpet premiere of Boss Baby: Family Business, a sequel to the 2017 movie that I have not seen.聽 But, as the only writer for The Dad in NYC, it was my job to go and cover this event.聽 Several larger dominos later, I was face-to-face with Tom McGrath saying that what I really enjoyed about the first film was the “imagination in world-building.” Just words coming out of my face. Why did I lie? Oh, a mix of social anxiety and a desire to keep the conversation moving, for sure. But also, what am I gonna do, be a wet blanket asshole at this fancy event? No. Plus, the “red carpet” was actually blue, so the whole world is built on lies.

Tom seemed like a great guy. He spoke candidly about how his relationship with his brother inspired the franchise and set me straight about which old horror movies featured creepy babies. He also told me that the new film would explore the complicated mythology of the Boss Baby universe further than ever, “taking us all the way to the top of the BabyCorp.” Now, I watched that whole movie and I couldn’t begin to tell you what that freaking means.

The Boss Baby: Family Business (Credit: Dreamworks Animation)

So I’m not going to review Boss Baby: Family Business, per se. It’s a kid’s movie, I think you get it. There’s a Looney Tunes sense of pace, on-the-nose referential jokes and only two musical numbers. But! One of them is a Cat Stevens song, and neither are an obnoxious dance-off between penguins and trolls copying TikTok trends. So as far as movies to watch with kids go, freaking A+.

Instead, I think a better service for dads watching this movie who have not seen – or just not remember – details from the first one would be to pinpoint my biggest WTF moments and try and answer them as best I could. So here are my Seven Biggest Questions About The New Boss Baby Having Not Seen The Original Boss Baby.聽

Are there spoilers ahead? Uh, sure? Hard to say what a spoiler is in this context, TBH. But don’t continue reading if you would prefer to experience the Boss Baby mythology on your own.聽

The Boss Baby Isn’t A Baby Anymore?

Correct, the characters from the first movie have grown up, and the two brothers have drifted apart. There’s Tim, the Not Boss Baby, now a stay-at-home dad, and Ted, the grown-up Boss Baby who is still a boss, but not of babies. Neither remembers their childhood adventure, helpfully allowing me to come into this movie with exactly the same amount of information as the main characters.

The Boss Baby: Family Business (Credit: Dreamworks Animation)

There is also a new Boss Baby, Tina. She has a formula that turns adults back into the age they were during previous installments of a franchise. This allows us to see multiple generations of Boss Babies working together. Why were the adult characters forced to turn back into children to complete the mission? Because it’s a baby mission, but also that’s just the kind of solution you get at a big corporations like BabyCorp, where everything is probably decided by committee.

  What’s Up With The Wizard?

Early in the movie, Tim finds his old alarm clock/Gandalf action figure. The wizard toy can talk and move, but I don’t know if he’s really alive, or just a figment of Tim’s imagination. Most of the hijinks in this movie seems rooted in the scientific advancement of the babies, but the talking alarm clock seems more like a magic thing.聽 There are no answers here but later, the wizard gets a He-Man arm, complete with Power Sword. To dwell on the wizard character only leads to madness.

What Is BabyCorp, The Baby Corporation In The Sky?

Remember when I deceived director/my new friend Tom about my knowledge of Boss Baby lore, told me this movie would show the very top of BabyCorp’s inner workings? Well, everybody does visit BabyCorp HQ, which is a giant office building in the clouds. Tim and Ted do so as ghosts, or maybe just holograms? Again, the tech/magic boundary here is unclear. But this does seem like the place babies come from and also invent serums.

However, the new Boss Baby also occasionally takes orders from someone on her cell phone, suggesting an even higher tier of baby bosses. This shadowy cabal is never revealed, despite Tom’s promise that we would see the highest level of the organization, so clearly I was not the only duplicitous person in attendance that evening.

  Jeff Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum is like if the concept of a question became a person. But in regards to this movie, he plays the head of some sort of amped-up Montessori-like school where education is treated as a cross between a game show and the Hunger Games.

He’s also a baby himself, with a huge head that can be mistaken for an adult’s head IF he wears a wig and mutton chops while operating a grown-up disguise robot. It is terrifying. But not as terrifying as anytime the character is not wearing a robo-suit, he constantly shovels piles and piles of sweets into his humongous mouth. He’s never without a lollipop or cupcake vanishing into his gaping maw. Sometimes he’s just palming pounds of sugar.聽 His mouth is an abyss, and watching it is to stare into the void and wonder if the void stares back. I’m here to tell you that Tom McGrath is a filmmaker working at the nexus of David Cronenberg and Chuck Jones.

The Boss Baby: Family Business (Credit: Dreamworks Animation)

Is It Weird To Center “If You Want To Sing Out,” A Song From Harold & Maude, As An Emotional Touchstone Between Father & Daughter Characters When The Father Is Disguised As Another Child So The Relationship Kinda Plays More Like A Romance Subplot Than A Father/Daughter Bonding Thing?

A little, yeah. A little bit.

Did They Kill All Dogs in The First One?

I can’t say for sure. But I do know from the trailers that the goal of the first movie was to keep parents from loving dogs more than babies…and there are no dogs in this one.聽 There is a pony, who has a little mini house outside, not unlike a dog house. It’s certainly a question worth considering.

and my final question, which I swear is taken directly from the Boss Baby Wiki:

What’s The Deal With People Enjoying The Boss Baby?

You know, at the end of the day, it was a pretty funny movie. I didn’t understand the backstory, but it turns out the movie doesn’t really care that much about its own backstory either. These Dreamworks cartoons are just full steam ahead, at all times. Sure, each gag is basically the embodiment of when a seven-year-old says “RANDOM” and laughs at their own meta-commentary. But Alec Baldwin and Amy Sedaris have great chemistry together as the Bosses Baby, and some of the jokes really are solid. For example, there’s a terrifying little girl who stalks baby ninjas at one point.聽 She genuinely cracked me up, especially remembering how Tom was so quick to gush over horror flicks.

Oh, Tom. I’m sorry for my betrayal.

Plus, to get on my own soapbox – I think it’s admirable to make cartoons that aren’t afraid to be weird and zany. Pixar’s got their thing, it’s smart for Dreamworks to go for an entirely different vibe.

Anyway, watch me have no idea what I was talking about at the premiere below.

You can see Boss Baby: Family Business, now聽in theaters or on Peacock Premium.

The Last of Us Video Game

  3.15

  Credit: Sony/Naughty Dog

After what has felt like an eternity, it looks like things are finally kicking off with production beginning on The Last of Us HBO series.

No official photos have been released by HBO yet, but we’ve been lucky enough to get a behind-the-scenes look from the cast.聽 In the photo down below which was posted by Gabriel Luna on Instagram, there’s Pedro Pascal who will play Joel, Luna will be playing his brother Tommy, and we’ve got Nico Parker sitting in the backseat, who will be playing Joel’s daughter Sarah in the series.

  View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Gabriel Luna (@iamgabrielluna)

For a show that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with infected creatures and humans, the cast and crew are all smiles.聽 To the uninitiated, it would seem like fun times all around, but if you’ve played the first Last of Us, you already know this family car ride is going to be anything but fun.聽 It’s going to be wild seeing these characters and moments come to life and I really hope this series does the games justice.聽 With Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and The Last of Us games鈥?director and Naughty Dog Co-President Neil Druckmann behind it, I expect great things.

The story will follow the first game, taking place 鈥渢wenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed.聽 Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts out as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”

If any video game is worthy of a TV or film adaptation, it would definitely be The Last of Us.聽 Hopefully, we’ll get a trailer by the end of the year and see the series release sometime in 2022.

  Jorts are Fashionable again

  3.15

  Credit: Getty/Westend61

Here鈥檚 the most important thing to learn about fashion; wear what you like, for as long as you want. It鈥檒l be cool, then lame, and then if you commit long enough, it鈥檒l swing back to cool. We鈥檝e seen it a hundred times, and Dads, our time is now, as the Wall Street Journal recently did a big story about how even Jorts are coming back into style this summer.

That鈥檚 right, jean shorts, the next part of the dad uniform to be officially legitimized as a fashion craze again. This coming on the heels of Dad-shoe appreciation and Crocs surging more mainstream (thanks to celebrity endorsers and different businesses embracing them), fanny packs popping up at fashion shows (forget fashion, they鈥檙e like an extra cargo pocket you buckle to your waist, who couldn鈥檛 love that?) and the 鈥?a href=”https://www.thedad.com/category/dad-bod/”>dad bod鈥?becoming a goal figure.

Jean shorts, or jorts, are flying off shelves. Here鈥檚 why the uniform of the barbecue dad is now seen as high fashion. https://t.co/QE0b6RJj06

  鈥?The Wall Street Journal (@WSJ) June 29, 2021

Jorts, I鈥檒l admit, took me by surprise. I was quick to abandon jean shorts in favor of khaki cargo shorts, which owned the early 2000s with a vengeance. While I鈥檝e dabbled in other shorts (nothing too colorful, I鈥檓 not bold enough for that) I do regret not having the commitment to stick with a solid jean short, now that they are officially 鈥渂ack in style.鈥?/p>

Do I care about style necessarily? No. But, at the same time, it鈥檚 like Bitcoin. If you got it early and kept it through the dark times, you look like a genius now! But if you buy in now, you鈥檙e just a poser who is trying to ride the wave, a wave that will likely come crashing down with a terror in about six to nine (nice) months.

The story is full of fashion-important and fashion-adjacent people touting the significance of jean shorts. But the real kicker is in the lede: 鈥淣ow, jorts鈥攖hose frumpy jean shorts worn by beer-clutching dads behind the barbecue鈥攈ave wormed their way into style.鈥?/p>

That鈥檚 how it always happens. Any win for dad style has to include several digs, like frumpy and 鈥渨orming their way into style鈥?because people don鈥檛 want to accept that our way of life is simply superior. Stop making yourself uncomfortable as slaves to fashion. Instead, man your grill for years, wearing what YOU want, and eventually, the fashion world will come crawling back, raising Dads up as the style icons we always knew we were on the inside.

  Remembering Christopher Reeve

  3.15

  Credit: Instagram/reevefoundation

Christopher Reeve rose to fame after starring in the 1978 Superman film and reprising the role in three future films, but Reeve was a very different kind of hero in his personal life – Christopher Reeve was a dad. Reeve faced an enormous amount of hardship throughout his life, with a horseback riding accident that left him paralyzed and subsequently having to re-learn how to live. But He remained an amazing father, philanthropist, and even continued acting after the injury that changed his life.

  View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Reeve Foundation (@reevefoundation) on May 14, 2018 at 11:57am PDT

Before his accident, Christopher Reeve acted in a range of projects from the soap opera 鈥淟ove of Life鈥?to the Superman role that skyrocketed him to fame. But on May 27, 1995, the larger-than-life superhero鈥檚 life would change forever. He was participating in an equestrian competition as he had done countless times in the past, riding his horse Buck. This time, on a sunny spring day, Buck stopped suddenly and Reeve toppled head-first over a barrier. At just 42 years old, Reeve鈥檚 spinal cord was injured and he was permanently paralyzed from the neck down.

Had he fallen just a centimeter farther to the left, the accident would have taken his life. If Reeve had fallen the same distance to the right, he likely wouldn鈥檛 have been paralyzed at all. After embodying a role as heroic and invincible as Superman, spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair was an enormously difficult thing to accept for the talented actor. Reeve sank into a deep depression.

Fortunately, Reeve had incredibly supportive friends and family by his side. His second wife, Dana, famously told Reeve 鈥淵ou鈥檙e still you. And I love you.鈥?The phrase reawakened Reeve鈥檚 love of life, and later inspired the name of his bestselling memoir 鈥淪till Me.鈥?And it was true. Despite his rise to fame playing a man with super strength, Reeve鈥檚 value was not tied to his physical abilities.

Christopher Reeve changed the world for all individuals living with paralysis and motivated scientists to work as a team to cure SCI. Today and every day, thank you Superman. #SupermanDay

A post shared by Reeve Foundation (@reevefoundation) on Jun 12, 2019 at 12:52pm PDT

After Reeve鈥檚 accident, he took a break from acting and public appearances. When he attended the 1996 Oscars, he returned to the public eye, met with a chorus of thunderous applause. He wasted no time demonstrating that he hasn鈥檛 lost his sense of humor, stating 鈥淲hat you may not know is that I left New York in September and just arrived here this morning.鈥?He continued, 鈥渁nd I鈥檓 glad I did – because I wound鈥檛 have missed this kind of welcome for the world.鈥?/p>

After Reeve passed away on October 10, 2004 from cardiac arrest, his three kids continued to keep his memory alive. Reeve鈥檚 youngest son Will, and the only child of Christopher and Dana, spoke to People Magazine in 2016. He expressed gratitude for how dedicated and involved his parents were before they both tragically passed when he was just 13 years old.

Will recalled, “They were the people who told me to turn off the TV,” he said, adding, “to eat my broccoli, to go to bed.” He continued, 鈥淚 understand that not every child experiences going to the grocery store and seeing their dad on the magazine at the checkout aisle, but 鈥?it was a totally normal childhood.鈥?/p>

He explained that his dad鈥檚 paralysis presented challenges. For example, every activity had to be carefully planned. There were no spontaneous trips, but the bit of extra preparation didn鈥檛 deprive Will and his dad from doing normal father-son things.

In fact, Reeve even taught his youngest son to ride a bike. Will recalled, 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 believe it was gonna work. I鈥檓 terrified, but I have my dad鈥檚 voice behind me going, 鈥楽teady, steady, left, right, left, right. By the third lap, I鈥檓 smiling, looking at my dad, waving, and he鈥檚 smiling. That meant so much to him. Later on, I would race in him the wheelchair. He鈥檇 let me win.鈥?/p>

Even with the challenges his injury presented, Reeve continued being a loving husband and an amazing dad to his three kids. Dana and Christopher even founded their own organization dedicated to helping people and families impacted by spinal cord injuries. The organization鈥檚 website explains that they are 鈥渄edicated to curing spinal cord injury by advancing innovative research and improving quality of life for individuals and families impacted by paralysis.鈥?/p>

  View this post on Instagram

“When Chris was first injured, there was very little out there that we could turn to,” Dana said in 2005. “It didn’t seem like there was one place where we could call and ask five different questions that seemingly had nothing to do with one another.”鈦?鈦?Dana Reeve created the Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) for those living with paralysis. Since the PRC opened in 2002, more than 101,000 people have received information and assistance from its information specialists. The PRC has given over $30 million in quality of life grants to other non-profits throughout the U.S, helping to improve the lives of people living with paralysis.鈦?鈦?Read more at ChristopherReeve.org/Blog #HopeHappensHere

A post shared by Reeve Foundation (@reevefoundation) on Sep 4, 2020 at 7:11am PDT

Reeve raised awareness about spinal cord injuries, lobbied congress, and through his organization raised over $130 million for research in various spinal cord injury treatments.

Peter Wilderotter, president and CEO of the foundation, told ICON, 鈥淣o one has accelerated the pace, interest, and support of paralysis research caused by spinal cord injury like Christopher. He toured the world to meet scientists, public representatives, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. He became the voice, and above all the beacon of hope, of all those who live with paralysis.鈥?/p>

16 years after his passing, Reeve鈥檚 kids continue to keep his memory alive – especially for his grandkids, who sadly never had the privilege of meeting him. 鈥淲e have photos of him in our home, 鈥滿atthew Reeve told Closer Weekly. 鈥淲hat鈥檚 been interesting since I鈥檝e become a parent myself is thinking back on our relationship and certain experiences I remember as a child and viewing them through the lens as a parent now. I鈥檓 thinking about how to talk to them about him 鈥?what movies we would show, what home movies, how to talk about his accident. My daughter knows her grandfather was Superman. We have pictures of him flying an airplane. Anytime she sees a plane, she points to the sky and says 鈥楩ah-Fah,鈥?which is very sweet. In Swedish, muh-fah is mother鈥檚 father; fah-fah is father鈥檚 father. They differentiate there.鈥?/p>

A post shared by Will Reeve (@willreeve_) on Sep 25, 2018 at 12:11pm PDT

Reeve鈥檚 daughter Alexandra echoed her brother鈥檚 sentiments about keeping their dad鈥檚 memory alive. She explained, 鈥淚 have two young children. Personally, I view things differently because I鈥檓 a parent. When you become a parent, it changes the way your view your own parents. I look back and see ways of continuing his legacy 鈥?not just continuing the foundation, but the values he stood for and embraced, how he tried to define our family, continuing to be part of this community and carrying on the fight and thinking about the broader community that is impacted by these issues.鈥?/p>

All three of Reeve鈥檚 kids have now forged impressive paths of their own. Matthew works as a TV writer, a fitting career path for someone who spent so much time on sets with his dad. Alexandra was recently named President & CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology, advocating for civil liberties and justice. Will is a correspondent with ABC news, working in front of the camera just like his dad. Though each of Reeve鈥檚 children have gone in different directions, they are united for a very important cause. They all continue to be extremely active with the Christopher and Dana Reeves foundation, a touching tribute to their dad and his dedication to families impacted by spinal cord injuries.

Though each of Christopher鈥檚 kids are successful in their own right, Will explained that success wasn鈥檛 the ultimate goal to his dad. When asked how his dad would have felt about his impressive career Will explained, 鈥淗e didn鈥檛 define success by what you do, but by who you are. I would hope proud as always.鈥?/p>

  Father Figures: Irreplaceable

  3.15

鈥淗aving two under two while trying to stay on a pumping schedule is incredibly demanding and overwhelming at times.

The time consumption, along with the hormonal and body changes that we go through after a child, is hard enough. I could do it and barely get by without losing it (or sometimes actually losing it) but having a husband that takes over without me having to say a word is the only thing that makes me feel like it鈥檚 possible for me to keep going. And to do it with a smile on his face truly shows how his love for his children overflows.

Being a great dad isn鈥檛 just about reading, playing or teaching their kid how to play catch, although those are all great too. It鈥檚 also about knowing when your partner needs you to tag in and take over.

That kind of instinct is irreplaceable. That is the kind of partner I hope my kids will be when they have children of their own.

I hope they鈥檙e just like their dad.鈥?/p>

  Empty BBQ Gas Tanks

ROCHESTER, NY鈥揊ather of two Brad Huntley is cheerfully prepping for his first barbecue of the year, completely unaware that the 32 tanks he has in his garage contain not one drop of propane.

Huntley seems especially excited to grill this year, after a long winter and an extended period of social isolation. He is currently shaping burger patties and slicing vegetables for a barbecue that will not happen because he鈥檚 consistently too lazy to refill his old tanks.

鈥淚 got a few tanks in the garage so we got plenty of fuel,鈥?Huntley said, cluelessly.

Huntley’s stock of empty fuel tanks has been growing for several years. Every summer, he vows to return or refill the empties but never gets around to it. He has yet to grasp the pattern.

In addition to the propane, Huntley’s garage also houses 10 water jugs and 14 Sodastream gas tanks. All of them are empty.

Despite being completely plausible to parents, THIS JUST IN is satire and intended for entertainment purposes only. For more stories like this one click here.

  Father's Day Heaven Card Returned

  3.15

  Credit: Facebook/SpottedBraunston

A mailman used social media to track down the family of a young girl who mailed a Father鈥檚 Day card to her late dad, addressed to him in Heaven. He posted about it on social media, where it was shared by thousands, and helped him get in touch with the girl鈥檚 mom so he could return the letter to her. She was overcome with emotion.

He shared a photo of the letter in a local community Facebook group, writing:

I’m a postman鈥arlier today I emptied the red pillar box鈥?and there was a letter in a child’s handwriting addressed to their dad in heaven, cloud 9. I’m trying to find the parents of the child as I would like to reach out to them and with their permission sort out a little something for the child. I myself lost my dad last year and as an adult found it hard so I can only imagine what this child is going through. Please, if anyone has any details then it would be hugely appreciated

He was in touch with the girl鈥檚 mom, Sarah Tully, a scant 15 minutes later. Tully thanked all the commenters for their overwhelming support. The mailman knew the letter would be thrown out since it had no real address, so he wanted to return it to the family, along with a gift for the girl (a father and daughter figurine).

Sarah said the girl lost her dad when she was young. Now 8-years-old, she sends letters to her dad on Father鈥檚 Day and Christmas to help feel connected to him. Her mom said she鈥檚 鈥渞eally struggled鈥?without him and that the letters help her cope.

鈥淚 think this year might have hit her the hardest because she was more emotional,鈥?her mom said. She had asked what her dad鈥檚 address was, and when her mom told her it was too late to send it, she broke down in tears. So her mom told her she could address it to heaven.

And now she has the letter for the girl to read someday, as she saved it in a box along with several of the hundreds of encouraging social media comments readers have left for her. She wanted to send her love to her dad, and so she was able to do that, and get so much more in return.

  Dad Final Tattoo

  3.15

  Credit: TikTok/fairyontheprairie

Sadly, Rudolph Clausing, a father of two, passed away earlier this year after a months-long battle with COVID-19. He left his daughters Anna and Abrielle a note on his hospital bed so the sisters paid tribute to him by getting a tattoo of his final words.

The final note he left his girls is a heartbreaking one, as it echoed a sentiment any dad with grown kids could empathize with. It simply said: 鈥淚t has been such a good life.鈥?/p>

Anna shared the video of the two sisters getting their tattoos on TikTok. 鈥淟ife is so empty without his smile, his humor, and the love he projected onto others,鈥?she wrote. 鈥淚鈥檓 so thankful he was my dad. He will be forever missed.鈥?/p>

@fairyontheprairieMy dad passed away due to Covid five months ago and left us a note on his hospital bed. My sister and I got it as a tattoo recently. 馃ズ馃鈾?marjorie – Taylor Swift

Anna told Good Morning America that he was 鈥渟uch a selfless person鈥?to be thinking about other people on the last moments of his life.

鈥淗e thought to write this note to us so that we know he had a good life, and he was at peace with the life he had,鈥?she said. 鈥淭hat just shows the type of person he was.鈥?/p>

His daughters said they have so much love for him it was important to them to remember him in some way.

鈥淭his was the only way we could think to show it and just have this reminder everyday that he did live such a good life,鈥?she said.

The video was viewed more than a million times, as it鈥檚 a poignant tribute to a dad and another reminder that COVID-19 has damaged some families permanently. While society gets back to normal, the loss left by the pandemic will be felt forever.

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut Youtube Image

  3.15

  Credit: Youtube/Playstation

If you haven’t played Ghost of Tsushima yet, this my friends is going to be a great way to get acquainted with one of the best games of 2020.

Playstation has revealed that an updated “Director’s Cut” will be coming to both PS4 and PS5 this August, and will include PS5-specific enhancements.聽 There’s also going to be a new Iki Island expansion included.聽 You can check it all out in the announcement trailer below.

We’ll get into the PS5 enhancements in a minute, but I think what’s most enticing here is the expansion.聽 As if there wasn’t already enough to do in the game, Iki Island will add a new chapter to Jin’s adventure.聽 This expansion will feature a new storyline to follow, along with new armor to look like a total badass samurai, and new techniques to master.

In regards to the enhancements, the PS5 version will have lip sync for both English and Japanese voice over, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, 3D audio, and drastically improved load times (which is bananas because it already had ridiculously fast load times on PS4).聽 Also, your save file from the PS4 version will also transfer over to PS5 which is awesome for those who have already 100% the game.

If you have a copy of Ghost of Tsushima and want to upgrade to PS5, it’ll be $29.99 USD.聽 If you don’t have a PS5, PS4 players will be able to upgrade to the Director’s Cut for $19.99 USD.聽 If you do end up picking up a PS5, you’ll have to pay $9.99 USD to upgrade.聽 I know it sounds convoluted, but essentially, it’s going to cost you $29.99 no matter what to fully upgrade to PS5, it’s just that you have options and aren’t left out if you’re on PS4.聽 This is pretty great because PS5’s are hard to come by these days.

More Ghost of Tsushima is definitely a good thing in my books.聽 The game is massive with a ton of content to complete.聽 On top of that, there’s an excellent multiplayer experience with a raid too.聽 Mark this one down on your calendar folks!

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will release for PS4 & PS5 on August 20th, 2021
